Meetings and Times

The Family Bible Hour

Sunday 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.

The Family Bible Hour is a time set aside for teaching from the Word of God.  It begins with a time of singing and prayer, during which any of the men present who are believers and walking with God may lead the assembly in prayer, requesting a hymn or chorus, giving a word of testimony or praise, as the Spirit leads.  Following this, the Word is ministered, by spiritually mature men of the assembly, to those gathered.   These messages may be expository, topical, or devotional in nature. One or more may preach in a given meeting, as the Lord leads. We have limited opportunities to meet together to hear from God’s Word; we desire that each of these meetings would be used by God to edify the believers.  The purpose of the church gathered is edification; the purpose of the church dispersed is evangelism. (1 Corinthians 14).

The Lord's Supper

Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

The Lord’s Supper is a time of remembrance.  It is a time when the believers’ thoughts and hearts are directed to the worship of God and thanksgiving for Christ’s death on the cross.  In preparation, all believers are to examine themselves so that they may participate in a worthy manner as instructed in Scripture.   As the Spirit leads, any of the men who are believers and walking with God may lead this meeting in worship through prayer, calling out a hymn to be sung, or reading and commenting from the Scriptures.  There are also times of quiet meditation and reflection on Him, which may feel unusual to those accustomed to the programmed meetings prevalent in our culture. The goal of these actions is to direct the hearts and minds of all present into worship.  Sometime during the course of this meeting (usually near the end) the bread and cup are passed among the believers.   Partaking of the bread and cup is the birthright of believers: it is His supper, He invites His children to it, we welcome those He has invited. Participation is open to all believers, including visitors who are in good fellowship in their local church.  One who is not a believer, or is unsure of his position is welcome to observe, but should refrain from partaking. (I Corinthians 11).

Meadows Ministry

Sunday 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Meadows meeting takes place at The Meadows on Sycamore, a local assisted living facility.  Rotating week by week among dining rooms of the three main buildings, the focus is an evangelistic outreach and edification in the Word of God, by way of expository Bible teaching, for those who may not be able to get out to other meetings.  The location is 130 N Sycamore Ave, Sioux Falls; the meetings are at 3:00 PM each Sunday afternoon.

Prayer Meeting

Wednesday 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The midweek prayer meeting is a time when the believers gather to share needs, and praises for answered prayer, with each other and then corporately lift these prayers to God.  Several of the men lead in prayer verbally, as guided by the Spirit, while all echo the petitions in their hearts.  Currently, we meet for this time on Wednesdays at 7pm at the Oak View Public Library community room, 3700 E 3rd Street, Sioux Falls.

Bible Studies

Bible studies are held in various homes and other locations throughout the week.  Some are specifically for men, some for women, some for families.  The focus of these is discipleship – how to follow Christ by growing in the understanding and application of the Word of God to our lives.  Find out more about being a part of a Bible study right here.
